.SYNOPSIS…
A cold front will cross the open waters through this morning, bringing a quick north to northeast wind shift and becoming gusty. The highest gusts will be over the southern half of Lake Michigan, though gales are not expected.
Winds will taper tonight, as high pressure around 30.5 inches lingers along the Ontario and Quebec border. The high will continue to influence winds across the southern third of Lake Michigan on Sunday, when northeast winds are forecast.
Southwest winds will become established across the northern two- thirds of the open waters on Sunday afternoon, as low pressure around 29.4 inches builds into the northern Great Plains. The low will continue deepening to near 29.2 inches on Monday, resulting in southeast winds across the southern half of the open waters. Southwest winds will prevail further north.
